Alwajba Palace Hotel Project in the Pearl of Qatar, Doha
We initiated the project in 2012 for Alwajba Hotel in the capital city of Qatar, Doha, where a total of 3000 m2 of façade cladding was applied using the natural stone travertine, the most suitable natural stone for warm climates. We provided support from stone selection, production to construction throughout the project, and it was completed in one year with a team of 150 people.
The hotel industry continually strives to combine aesthetics and energy efficiency without compromising on comfort. Therefore, many hotels prefer natural stones like travertine for their exterior cladding. Travertine offers an excellent choice for protection against the scorching effects of the sun and minimizing heat loss. Here are some important reasons explaining why hotels prefer travertine cladding:
Durability Against Sun Effects: Travertine is resistant to the heat and UV rays of the sun. This helps hotels protect themselves from the harmful effects of the sun in hot climates and ensures the long-lasting durability of the building's exterior facades.
Heat Insulation: Travertine functions as a natural thermal insulation material. This helps hotels prevent heat loss and enhance energy efficiency. It is also effective in keeping indoor spaces cool.
Aesthetic Appeal: The light color of travertine reflects the bright lights of the sun to a high degree. This prevents the stone's color from fading or changing, thus maintaining the exterior appearance of hotels.
Natural and Eco-Friendly: Travertine is a natural material sourced from sustainable origins. Therefore, hotels view it as an eco-friendly option and design their properties in an environmentally conscious manner.
Durability: Travertine is known for its resilience against external factors. Hence, hotels can reduce maintenance costs by ensuring the long-term durability of their building exteriors.
Overall, by using travertine for exterior cladding, hotels achieve an aesthetically pleasing appearance and energy savings. This not only provides a more comfortable experience for guests but also reflects an environmentally responsible approach.
